Hi,
My ISP is having some difficulty in determining the correct forum data root path for my non-browseable files. Would this path normally be completely different to the server root path? Can someone provide an example of each?. I have tried via smartftp to create a non-browseable dir above the root, but no success.

Also, for the server root they have created a new dir below the normal root to put browseable forum files in; i.e. /www/business/4857 is now /www/business/4857/www. Now the previous forum www root value; e.g. http://www.mysite.com, has errored - says WWW_ROOT does not correspond with the SERVER_ROOT path.

Thanks,
Rob

If you web browseable directory is

/home/user/www/

Then you should make /home/user/www/forum

and specify that was web & data root. for WWW_ROOT you should enter http://www.yourdomain.com/forum

Hi,
Yes, I've just tried it. Downloaded FUDforum_zl_2-6-0RC10.zip and got this msg:

Warning: gzuncompress(): data error in /www/business/4857/www/forum/install.php on line 451
Archive did not pass checksum test, CORRUPT ARCHIVE!
If you've encountered this error it means that you've:
downloaded a corrupt archive
uploaded the archive in ASCII and not BINARY mode
your FTP Server/Decompression software/Operating System added un-needed cartrige return (' ') characters to the archive, resulting in archive corruption.

Thanks,
Rob

Could you please send me the 'corrupt' install.php and/or tell me what is the output of the following command:

md5sum install.php

if you do not have shell you can get this via the following PHP script:
<?php
echo md5_file("install.php");
?>

Hi,
I tried installing 2.5.2. and got this msg with a couple of attempts: Warning: gzuncompress(): data error in /www/business/4857/www/forum/install.php on line 449
Failed decompressing the archive

I downloaded the .zip because winzip doesn't decompress the others. Must try something new for the install to work. Not sure what though - maybe download from CVS, how can I get hold of another decompressor to decompress non-.zip files?

Thanks,
Rob

Just about any shareware archive has numerous decompression utilities.

Hi,
PHP System Information (1) Register Globals and (2) magic quotese gpc.

These both show as enabled. To disable them both, is this something I do or my ISP does? If me, then how?

Thanks,
Rob

If your ISP allows you to have .htaccess you can disable them yourself.
