I have a set of html files, and I want to add a discussion area at the bottom of each page.
Is it possible to interface FUD Forums in this way, so that when you load the specific file, it opens up the forums for that topic in tree view?
I would like to keep each page separate from the rest of the pages, but then keep the main page where you can see everything.
Is FUD Forum a good tool to be used in this way?

You want a forum page @ the bottom of the HTML file, is so read up on the iframe tag that can be used to embed a page inside another page.
Yes, you can do all sorts of trick via the templating system and if what you want is not possible you can always tinker with the forum's source code.
