1). Is it possible to receive email notification ONLY when somebody replies to a post that I have made rather than when somebody adds a message to the thread but NOT in direct response to my message?
2). Is there a way to provide an automatic indication in the subject line when the post has no message body - i.e. adding "n/t" at the end of the subject? (or a small icon for example?)

No, standard functionality does not support this.

Nope, you can control what is displayed in the body area of an empty message, but not the subject associated with that message.
Both of these would require code modifications
